What You Never Want To Do At An Acting Audition (if you want to succeed)

What You Never Want To Do At An Acting Audition (if you want to succeed)You’re putting a lot of time and energy into your acting career. You’re taking all the right classes, you’ve got your coach; you’ve gone ‘all in’ with this passion of yours. So you’re not about to ruin your reputation or career options are you?At the New York Acting School for Film and Television, we've seen aspiring actors make the same mistake over and over again, and it's time you knew something really important, so you don't stunt your career unnecessarily. There are definitely many things you should never do before, during or after and acting audition.

However, the one thing you NEVER want to do when you have an acting audition… is show up sick.

You may think it shows dedication and total commitment. Well, it does but it also shows lack of concern for others and your personal representation.

First of all, take into consideration as well, that casting directors are already sensitive to getting sick themselves because they see hundreds of actors for any given project. You don’t want to get the casting director sick.

Yes it’s discouraging but even if it is with the casting director you have been trying to meet for years, don’t go. Call in and let them know. If you show up with body aches and fatigue, it will show in your eyes, posture and energy. If you audition with a sick voice, it may indeed be that voice the casting director picks is that of a sick one. You want to audition as your truest and most authentic self.
So if you're truly sick, alert the audition and let them know. If you don't want to end up in a situation of risk, make healthy choices and keep from getting sick in the first place.

Auditions are already a tiring and challenging experience. Make it easier by delivering a strong first (respectful) impression to both your casting director and your for your career.
